Free Trip Cost Calculator for India

Use this road trip cost calculator to estimate the money needed for a car or other road journey. Enter distance, vehicle mileage, current fuel price, toll charges and number of travellers. The calculator instantly shows fuel required, total trip cost, cost per kilometre and cost per person.

Calculate fuel and petrol cost for a trip

Fuel required is calculated from distance and mileage, then multiplied by the fuel price you enter. This makes the tool useful as a petrol cost calculator, diesel trip calculator, fuel cost calculator or travel cost calculator for trips in India.

Include tolls and calculate a round trip

Add your expected toll charges to get a more realistic travel budget. Select Round trip when you will return to the starting point; the calculator doubles the distance and fuel requirement automatically.

Understand total travel cost and cost per kilometre

Your total trip cost combines fuel expense and tolls. Cost per kilometre is calculated by dividing the total trip cost by total distance. Use the displayed cost per person to compare the budget for a shared road trip.

Example: planning an India road trip

If a trip is 300 km one way, the vehicle gives 15 km/L and fuel costs ₹105/L, selecting round trip calculates 600 km and about 40 litres of fuel. Add toll charges and the number of travellers to estimate the complete shared trip budget.

What this estimate includes

The total shown here is fuel expense plus the toll amount you enter. It does not automatically include parking, food, accommodation, local transport, vehicle maintenance, tyre wear or depreciation. Add any of those expenses separately when preparing a complete travel budget.

Round trips and shared costs

The round-trip checkbox doubles the distance and fuel requirement, but it does not double the toll field because toll routes and return discounts vary. Enter the total toll charges you expect for the whole journey. Cost per person is a simple equal split; it does not account for passengers joining or leaving at different points or for unequal contributions.

Make the estimate more realistic

Use a recent mileage figure for the vehicle and driving conditions rather than relying only on the manufacturer's best-case figure. City traffic, hills, air-conditioning, vehicle load and driving speed can change fuel use. Fuel price and toll charges may also change before departure, so treat the result as a planning estimate and check current prices and route charges before travelling.
